wait I already have a copy of the Win 10 version, they gave it away to Java version owners a long time ago
I just forgot about it
downloaded the RTX Minecraft beta and loaded up one of the demo levels and holy shit y'all
I knew this stuff looked good but seeing it for myself is something else
finally get to flex the RTX cores in my GPU...and its fuckin Minecraft
I didn't even turn on RTX in games like Control because the performance hit is significant s
thing about Control is that it already looks incredible without RTX on and the effects it does add when enabled aren't all that significant and most of the time most people won't notice them when you are playing the game
but with Minecraft because the base game looks like shit (no offence meant) adding RTX makes a really noticeable effect
wait I probably have to install the new NVIDIA driver update huh
(445.87 which is out now)
reading the release notes for the driver update and wait there is a remastered version of Saints Row 3 now?
gonna install the new drivers later tonight when I install the pending Windows update
man I love love the colour and light related stuff here like how light refracts in real time through glass
Alex does a really good job demoing the various effect, this is why I love Digital Foundry videos
and I enjoy the enthusiasm, this is some really cool tech on display here
I don't think I've been wowed by a games graphics tech like this in a long long time
"but can it run Crysis" meme but now its "but can it run Minecraft RTX"
seriously, Alex did a camera obscura effect in Minecraft RTX and that honestly blew my mind
so installed the latest NVIDIA drivers and now I have DLSS in the Minecraft RTX beta
frame rates are much better now
so now I'm just listening to the Minecraft music and enjoying these effects
the build name (?) for the Minecraft RTX Beta is RENDERDRAGON but due the font kerning I first read it as GENDERDRAGON
god this is so fucking cool aaa
@mdm no, its early days yet for this tech and it still is very heavy on these GPUs, wait till the next gen of NVIDIA cards
@packetcat Thanks! Yeah, the screenshots I've seen look _gorgeous_.
But yeah if one needs the 2080 at this point (which is close to $1000!) to run this well... I'm fine waiting.
